After the ceramic pieces had been fired to 1240, I then applied a clear earthenware glaze with 5% black stain. This is then applied to hot objects heated to 120 degrees to allow the glaze to stick and open the pores of the clay body.
The application of the glaze was successful and even other the interior of the pieces but needed cleaning up around the rim. Although, the risk of applying a glaze this way is, thermal shock. This has led to one plate shattering into three.
