Plaster Turning.

As the CNC had hit the maximum depth. I decided to explore the concept of mixing digitally fabricated pieces with handmade and the traditional craft technique of turning plaster. This shape would be added to the overall form and add depth to the bowl. When turning the bowl, I wanted to retain a sharp crisp angle towards the base that I could sand away and fade out towards the rim.

The first piece, I increased the size of the step by 0.5 every time, starting at 4mm. This would hope to capture the transition away from the refined digital. Although, I also produced a second attempt that I made the overall form and then added the 4mm step consistently. This I believe gave me a cleaner and better effect.
