This blog post will cover the London trip, where we visited collect as part of professional practice. During this visit, I was instantly drawn to work similar to my own, shown below in a selection of images. As these images show, I believe I’m drawn to the colour black, with texture and detail. I would say that I like pieces that show the production and method of manufacture or enhancement of detail withing the material such as wood grain.
One piece I found beautiful beyond anything else, was a large white porcelain vessel that was hand carved with fine ripples. This high level of detail and precision was something that really impressed me as well being one of the first times I have gone into a gallery and loved what the collection is about. Before I never felt like I fit into any specific gallery but this was inspirational.
